Founded in 2016 and nationally accredited by NACCAS, Townsend Barber Institute has been transforming aspiring barbers into licensed professionals in Roseville, MN for nearly a decade.
Now, we're bringing that same standard of excellence to Metro Atlanta. Our Smyrna, GA campus will deliver the same hands-on, instructor-led curriculum that has built TBI's reputation — in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility designed for Georgia's growing market.
Dr. Eric L. Townsend, Founder and CEO of TBI, personally oversees curriculum, compliance, and student outcomes at every campus.
The Program
A comprehensive, clock-hour program covering everything from fundamentals to advanced technique — designed to prepare you for licensure and a thriving career.
Master foundational and advanced haircutting techniques for men and boys, including fades, tapers, and textured styles.
Straight razor shaves, neck shaves, beard sculpting, and hot towel treatments rooted in old-school barbershop tradition.
Facials, hot steam towels, and scalp treatments that round out a full-service barbering skill set.
Cosmetology sciences, anatomy, bacteriology, chemistry, and health & safety standards required for Georgia licensure.
Business fundamentals, client communication, booth rental basics, and building a professional brand in the industry.
Hands-on client service hours in TBI's live clinic environment — the real-world training that separates TBI graduates.
Campus Buildout
Here's where we are in the process and what's ahead for TBI Georgia.
King Springs location secured in the Metro Atlanta area. Floor plan designed for 50 students with a dedicated clinic floor and 6-bowl shampoo area.
Interior construction underway. Barber chairs, styling stations, shampoo systems, and clinic equipment being sourced and installed.
Pursuing approvals from GNPEC, the Georgia State Board of Barbers, and NACCAS substantive change review. Federal Title IV location addition via ED E-App.
Target enrollment launch 2026 via TBI Founders Direct Pay — no FAFSA required for inaugural cohort. Full Title IV/DOE funding available upon accreditation approval in 2027. Interest list members contacted first.
